Warwick town council to consider boutique hotel application
AN HISTORIC, grade-II* listed building overlooking Warwick Castle could be set to become the area’s newest boutique hotel.
The Plans Committee on Warwick Town Council will later this month decide whether to give permission for The Gables in Mill Street to operate as a hotel.
The owner has already spent £4 million refurbishing the property, which was is believed to be about 500 years old and was originally a collection of four cottages for workers at the nearby castle.
After renting out a “couple of rooms” to “road test” the idea, the owner Matt Sutherland now wants local planners to allow him to change the use of the property so it can be operate as a hotel, reports local paper the Warwick Courier.
“There certainly seems to be a demand for accommodation and so now I’d like permission to expand the operation into a hotel with seven rooms offering bed and breakfast and an evening meal for those guests who want it,” said Mr Sutherland.
