Council building in Bearsden to be transformed in to boutique hotel

AN OFFICE building which was in use by a local council looks set to be now be turned in to a boutique hotel.

The sale of Boclair House in Bearsden, near Glasgow, has been completed and developers now plan to turn the 19th century gothic property in to hotel with new homes built alongside.

Planning permission for the redevelopment of East Dunbartonshire’s former education offices was granted earlier in the year and the sale of the property has now been completed.

Graeme Todd, from chartered surveyors DM Hall, who was appointed by the Council to manage the sale, told the Herald newspaper: “It has been a long process with a great many interested parties and a range of competing proposals, but I believe, ultimately, that the council has opted for the best possible option.”

Once complete, the new hotel will join the Manorview Hotel and Leisure Group which already operates six boutique hotels in Scotland.
