New hotel planned at the Arts Club in London

A PRIVATE members’ club in Mayfair is planning to open a sixteen-room hotel later this year.

The Arts Club in Dover Street is converting rooms on the second, third and fourth floors of its Georgian townhouse building into luxury hotel rooms and suites.

Furnishings from top designers such as Jacques Adnet, Gio Ponti, Finn Juhl, Piero Fornasetti and Hans Wegner will feature in the rooms that range in size up to 100m².

Alice Chadwyck-Healey of The Arts Club, commented: “Many of the Arts Club members have asked us to expand our offering so we expect plenty of demand to stay. We believe that the new hotel will attract a very international guest, who wishes to relax in a high-quality, glamorous and discreet suite in central London.”

The hotel will be open to non-members, giving them access to the club’s three restaurants, garden and night club.

The Arts Club was established in 1863 and its membership has included luminaries such as Charles Dickens and Anthony Trollope. The hotel is expected to open towards the end of 2014.
