New boutique hotel in Southwark approved

A boutique bedroom hotel in Southwark, London, was given the go ahead by local councillors on Monday.

The new hotel will be at 75 – 76 Blackfriars Road, close to Southwark underground station, and will require the refurbishment of the Grade II listed building. A property to the rear with an address in Burrows Mews will be demolished to make way for a three storey building.

The new ten-bedroom boutique hotel will be designed by Linedota architects, who previously worked on La Suite Marylebone and the University Arms in Cambridge.

The issue was decided upon by a local “community council” to which planning matters are devolved to by Southwark Council.
