Fulham Town Hall could become boutique hotel

A 19th century town hall in West London could be set to become a boutique hotel.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council has announced that Fulham Town Hall is being sold off and one of the possible bidders wish to turn the imposing building into a new hotel.

The sale of the building along with seven other council properties is expected to raise £14m, according to the BBC.

Deputy leader of the council, Nick Botterill, said: “We do not need, and cannot afford, two town halls.

“We want to see the building itself brought back to life as part of the biggest regeneration of the area since the Broadway development.”

The restoration of the Grade-II listed building is being overseen by architects Hawkins Brown.

The conversion would not be London’s first town hall-cum-boutique hotel – Bethnal Green’s former Town Hall was opened as a boutique hotel with serviced apartments last year.
